Boca Raton

Boca Raton, Florida is a beautiful, upscale city that should be considered by any discerning buyer when researching areas for relocation.  It is charming and quaint, boasting natural beauty and peacefulness as well as a vibrant downtown business district.  Located only 43 miles north of Miami and 23 miles from the Palm Beach International Airport makes this an ideal area for many.

The city’s definite Mediterranean Revival/Spanish Colonial Revival feel can be attributed to the design influence from famous resort architect, Addison Mizner. The ongoing strict building codes assure that common eyesores such as outdoor car dealerships and billboards will never interfere with the tasteful but still trendy city environment.

The population of Boca Raton is geared toward the wealthier, more affluent population.  It is one of the wealthiest cities in South Florida.  The area is also noted to be a popular hanging spot for the Mafia, with well-known mobsters such as Jy Merlino and the Gambino Family residing there.  Although rich with Mafia ties, Boca Raton is pleasantly free from violent crime.

There are currently numerous planned developments including more gated communities and golf courses.  The top employers in Boca Raton include both Florida Atlantic University and Office Depot’s Corporate Headquarters, as well as the Boca Raton Regional Hospital, numerous luxury resorts, small businesses, and shopping centers.

The city is home to many notable private and religious schools and multiple public schools, as well as a few top universities and colleges.

You will find some of the best restaurants in the south here in Boca Raton.  Although the area is rich with small shops and boutiques, it also boasts one of the largest enclosed conventional shopping malls in Florida.

If beaches are your deal breaker, Boca Raton boasts over 2 miles of beautiful and serene beaches on its eastern coast.  Here you can relax in one of the many cabanas listening to the ocean breeze, or visit the Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex in Red Reef Park.  The complex boasts sea tanks, butterfly gardens, a boardwalk trail and an observation tower.  It also houses a college research facility for the study of sea turtles, sharks, and other marine life.

Temperatures boast winters with highs in the 70-80 range and summer highs in the 89-90 range.  Lows are typically in the high 50’s.  With it’s true “tropical rainforest” climate, Boca Raton should be a top consideration for the distinguishing buyer, whether a retiree, an entrepreneur, a college student, or a family looking for a great environment for raising kids.
