Quiet. Exclusive. In demand. All of these descriptions perfectly fit the small ocean front community known as Golden Beach in Miami-Dade County, Florida. This affluent town is located on a tiny strip of land, a barrier island to be exact, that provides a division between the Atlantic ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. The entire island can easily be covered on foot and is it stretches no more than one mile from north to south and only a mere four blocks from east to west. It’s intimate feel and upscale nature has attracted the likes of celebrities such as Bill Gates, Eric Clapton, and Ricky Martin. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the property value of many homes in the area exceeds one million dollars.
If you’re on the hunt for a new home for your family, Golden Beach could be a great fit. Not only ds the Golden Beach real estate market often list single family homes for sale (condos can not be found as the town has instituted a ban on high-rise condominium buildings), but the quiet nature of the town combined with plenty of recreational opportunities in the form of parks and a private beach with a beach pavilion make it a child-friendly haven. Other points of interest include fine dining establishments, world-class shopping (the Shoppes of Bal Harbour in particular), and professional sports venues. Worth mentioning is the fact that even though this town is a short distance from major cities such as Fort Lauderdale and Miami (along with the airports of both cities), its Town Charter safeguards the area from high-rise construction and commercial activity to differentiate it from many other south Florida beach communities.
Due to its uniquely small size and upscale nature, Golden Beach has a proportionately small population of 919 people who are governed by an elected Mayor and a Council consisting of four members. A large portion of the population (approximately 49 percent) consists of families with children, with an average household size of 3.26. The town also boasts a Hebrew speaking demographic as it has the third highest percentage of Israeli citizens within the U.S.
Whether you’re a single individual or a family looking for an intimate refuge to raise your children, this ocean front town has plenty to offer.
